Sigma SD1 released !

This has come to everyone's surprise, but the new Sigma SD1 was released today !



What makes this release so special, is that finally the famous Foveon sensor has been upgraded to the modern standards. The new SD1 comes with effective 15mpix, that produce much sharper and color rich images, than conventional DSLR cameras, even with higher megapixels count.

Other features include professional quality weather-resistant body from magnesium alloy, 3" LCD screen and 11 point AF system with twin cross centers.

Too bad there is no actual samples of the pictures it could produce, but many people are waiting for this, I can imagine the quality of the image would be spectacular.

There is no information about pricing and availability date, many people are afraid, that since it took Sigma SD15 to actually become available only a year after announcement, the SD1 could end up the same way. But let's keep our fingers crossed !
